With fresh, cool vibes, the new BTS hit “Butter” has continued to add to the group's repertoire of famous songs and give their fans an enjoyable bop for the summer.
“BTS has always sent a positive message to their fans and because they’re so passionate with what they do, when it comes to composing songs, creating choreography and performing...”
While many of BTS’s songs have been known to shed light on deep, profound topics and meaning, “Butter” is a free-flowing song. The song is meant to enhance the individual vocals and charms of the group as a whole. Some may describe the song as a mix of cute and charismatic while still maintaining a lively, addicting performance and melody. BTS member RM took part in writing this song as he has done for many of their other songs. Once the song was ready, all of the members sat together and listened to the song almost 200 times to make sure everything was right. “Dynamite” was more of an up-beat disco song meant to give people hope in these hard times, while “Butter” is more of a summer blast song, meant to sing and dance all the worries of life away.

Smooth like butter, BTS's new song strikes a summer chord with ARMY fans and new listeners.
“The new single ‘Butter’ is amazing and a different pace from what BTS did before. I was very surprised to find the song being in English as a K-pop boy group but it is such a catchy song. I became an ARMY through a friend and honestly don’t have regrets. BTS introduced me to a different part of the music industry and a different genre of songs. I loved learning about their journey and getting to know each member. BTS is an amazing group that I totally recommend and the ARMY community is very inclusive and very creative similar to the group we all stan,” said sophomore Irene Paul.
This year, they were nominated for four Billboard awards: Top Duo/Group, Top Song Sales Artist, Top Social Artist, and Top Selling Song. While at the Billboards, they performed “Butter” for the first time and took home all four awards.

“I really enjoy their new single “Butter” because it’s a really awesome summer song that people can just vibe with and dance to. I totally recommend it! BTS is not just an idol group, but artists who have continually supported others who are in need and have inspired people to always love themselves. I’ve continued to be a part of this fandom because BTS has always sent a positive message to their fans and because they’re so passionate with what they do, when it comes to composing songs, creating choreography and performing,” said senior Isabella Le.
BTS broke the global 24-hour record with 108.2 million views of “Butter” within a day of its release. They hold first and second for this record since they surpassed their own record. The other record they broke was “Biggest YouTube Music Video” premiere, which had 3.9 million peak concurrent viewers.
